Anonymous asked: If someone has has carpal tunnel for 10+ years, is there any point in doing ergonomic exercises?
After that many years, you probably have some permanent nerve damage. The carpal tunnel/median nerve is only a part of your wrist and hand anatomy, and exercises may continue to stretch and relieve some pressure for the entire area, even if the nerve is damaged. However, some sources, including Mayo Clinic, say that doing the exercises after damaging the nerve could aggravate the pain. My suggestion, as it is so often, is to see a health care provider or occupational therapist before you do any further damage or cause yourself further pain, numbness or dysfunction.
